Remembering Chuck Boyd: A Legend of the GMC Community

Chuck Boyd, long-time Dixielanders member and two-term President of the club, passed away on December 30, 2025 in Knoxville, Tennessee, at the age of 77.

Chuck was a fixture under the hood at many a Bean Station rally and among many Tennessee members. A lifelong resident of East Tennessee and an avid Vols fan, he had a love of motorcycles and a deep passion for GMC motorhomes.

A Wrench and a Warm Word

Dixielanders recall Chuck diving in and getting dirty helping others maintain the roadworthiness of their coaches. If Chuck worked on your GMC, you knew you were in good shape. But he could do more than turn a wrench — he also served as a calm, generous presence who made every rally feel welcoming.

He definitely left an impression on everyone he encountered and was a huge contributor to the GMC community.

In His Own Words

Chuck was known for saying that the best thing about a GMC rally wasn’t the coaches — it was the people. He lived that belief every day he spent with his fellow members, sharing knowledge, sharing tools, and sharing laughter.

Remembrance

Please hold his wife Cathy close in your prayers, and remember fondly Chuck’s dedication to the club and to maintaining our vintage GMC Motorhomes.

His final trip may have ended, but the roads he helped others travel will carry his memory forward for a long time to come.
